5 Tips to Write a Successful Blog Post That Convert

 

 Many people do not realize the importance of a good blog post in helping their business to grow. A good blog post helps your inbound marketing in 2 ways:

(1) Attract new visitors

(2) Convert visitors into leads

 

By creating relevant content for your clients, not only can it bring traffic to your website, it also builds trust with your customers through providing valuable information, and eventually, convert your customers into leads through appropriate call-to-action.

 

However, the problem is people usually don’t read through all the content – they will take only a few seconds to judge and decide whether they will continue reading. Therefore, it is important that you can catch their attention in the beginning!

Before you start working on your content, it is important to identify your target audience, and how they would search for their desired products or services. Therefore, you also have to know what kind of keywords they would use to search for the things they want.

 

Make use of online tools such as Google Trends and Moz Keyword Explorer to analyze what the popular keywords searched by your users are.

 

2. Eye-catching headlines

As I have mentioned before, it takes only a few seconds for your audience to decide whether to stay and continue reading or not. Therefore, a specific and compelling title matters a lot.

 

The headlines must be specific. For example, you are intended to write about how to write a good blog post to attract audience, and if your is something like “writing a good blog post”, this could breed multiple different blog posts as it is not specific enough.

 

Besides, make sure you let readers and search engine knows what your post is about just by looking at your title. Your headlines have to set the right expectations for your audience, such as including: what are the information that is going to be covered? What kind of format this post is going to take?  

 

However, no matter how good your title is, make sure to keep it short! This is vital for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) since Google only shows the first 50-60 characters of your title in the search results. If your attractive and eye-catchy title is being cut-off, that would hurt your click-through rate eventually.

 

3. Include white space

Whitespace is the empty space on the page of your blog post, and this is very important in terms of enhancing your user experience!

With enough whitespace in-between paragraphs, it allows visitor to focus on the content and are easier to comprehend.

 

It is best to avoid writing long paragraphs, as it will make your blog post look like it is formed by multiple big blocks of text, which is hard to read and your visitor feel overwhelmed.

 

4. Enhance your blog post through SEO

 

Your blog post has to be made “visible” to users before it can be used to convert visitors to leads. Therefore, never forget to optimize your content in SEO so that you can rank higher on the organic search ranking.

 

Here are some of the things that you need to do in order to enhance your SEO performance:

  • Add relevant meta description
  • Keyword research and optimization
  • Alt-text of image
  • Title tags, or the H1 tags
  • Internal and external links

5. Make sure to include a Call-to-Action

 

Call-to-Action (CTA) is a marketing term referring to any device arranged to prompt a response from visitors, or to take a desired action.

 

No matter what kind of CTA you want – be it asking your readers to subscribe, share it to social media, follow your social media channel, or download your e-book; Make sure you clearly state what you would like them to do.

 

If your post is doing well, together with a good CTA, it is very likely that your visitors would eventually convert into your leads, which is a step forward to your successful business goals!
